At its heart is a real-time matrix router: route any player to any combination of output zones, with one player feeding many zones and many players mixing into one — all changed live, with no interruption. Because zones are defined in software, there’s no fixed limit on how many you can run — the practical ceiling is your PC’s performance and the channels your devices expose. Audio can play through every channel of every available sound card: a single 5.1 card gives you 6 channels, while a 64-channel Dante Virtual Soundcard opens up 64 zones at once. So whether you’re scoring a sprawling shopping center, a nightclub, or any other venue, you can play a different playlist in every room.

Multi Room Audio Player is for anyone who wants different music in different areas — rooms, corridors, and hallways — anywhere the public gathers. It saves money, too: you no longer need a person (or a computer) per audio stream. A single PC running the software can supply music to dozens of separate areas of a building — no racks of standalone players required. There’s no built-in cap on the number of zones; how far you scale is limited only by your PC’s performance and the channels your audio devices provide, and even entry-level computers ship with 5.1 (six channels) to start. Each zone can run as mono on a single channel or as a true stereo pair, so left/right content lands exactly where it should.

For professional installs, Multi Room Audio Player offers comprehensive Audinate Dante support through its ASIO integration. Set the device type to ASIO, select the Dante Virtual Soundcard driver, and up to 64 Dante channels become available as independent zones — each with its own player, volume, EQ, and routing. Use Dante Controller to route those channels to amplifiers, speakers, and networked I/O anywhere on your Dante network, while Dante Via bridges audio from other applications on the same machine. Send audio to a single amp, a whole building, or dozens of rooms at once — and manage it all from one screen, alongside hundreds of Dante-enabled products. The software also works with everyday DirectSound and WASAPI devices, so it fits installs of any size.

The software also supplies a deep set of extra features for fine-tuning your results. A 10-band graphic equalizer and compressor on every player and zone shape exactly how audio sounds in each location, and the matrix view keeps every room under centralized control. New in version 7: text-to-speech jingles you create just by typing, per-zone stereo output, and audio capture — either the whole system via a loopback player, or a single running app such as Spotify or YouTube via per-application capture.
