Multi Room Audio Player is now Multi Zone Audio Player (MZAP 7) — rebuilt as 64-bit with full ASIO and Audinate Dante support. The feedback below comes from real installations, collected over more than a decade of production use.

Wheatstone Corporation — broadcast audio lab

“I was astonished to see that with eight ‘zones’ running CPU utilization was almost nothing! At first, I thought something had to be wrong, but all eight signals were there and sounded great, so GREAT WORK! And my favorite part? It remembers what it was doing last if the PC is restarted, and it comes right back up all configured and running, just like before. That part alone saves a lot of time and frustration.”

— Jeff Keith, Senior Algorithm and Product Development Engineer, Wheatstone Corporation

Wheatstone builds audio mixing consoles, processors, and studio systems for the broadcast industry. Jeff replaced sixteen Winamp instances across two PCs with a single Multi Room Audio Player setup in Wheatstone’s audio processing lab — a lab toured by over 3,200 broadcast professionals. Australian commercial FM broadcaster — on-air playout

“We use Multi Room Audio Player in our live audio environments across Australia. It loops file-based content continuously for line-up sequences and emergency (apology) audio, and receives web audio streams. All players feed audio into our Ravenna IP audio network for use by other devices. Other player applications can do these jobs, but this was the only product we could find that did them reliably for many channels at once. Our biggest configurations run 15–20 players per instance.”

— Senior Solutions Architect, Australian commercial FM broadcaster

The station has run Multi Room Audio Player in its live audio chain since 2020, across more than ten licences. Every player feeds the broadcaster’s Ravenna IP audio network, where other broadcast devices pick the audio up. Read the full story →

Belora vzw — ornithological field research, Belgium

“Our setup — playing bird sounds in the field for scientific bird ringing — is working fine. For the moment we run 4 players, 4 amplifiers and 4 zones, from a laptop with an external Cubilux sound card added. Everything is in a small shed.”

— Belora vzw, Belgian ornithological research

Tayman Graveyard — haunted attraction, Midlothian, Texas

“By using a very basic computer with a few sound cards, we have so far been able to create 8 separate zones of audio for the haunt, complete with playlists and an auto start feature. The system is so easy that anyone can bring it online with just the push of a single power button. There are many more features that make the software worth its weight in gold — it has an excellent set of features, and does what it is supposed to do!”

— Russ W. Moore, Haunt Master, Tayman Graveyard Haunted Attraction

Home installation — backyard audio

“We have been enjoying your software for a long time now, my father uses it in his backyard and loves it even more now that he is recently retired. I wanted to say thank you!”

— Alex, home user (from a customer letter, April 2022)
